Biography
Hollows are an Appalachian Black Metal Band born in the mountains of southeastern Kentucky. The project has grown to incorporate members from farther out in the state with the addition of drummer Chuck Johnson in March of 2025, and bassist and vocalist Andy Anderson in September of 2025.
HOLLOWS played live sets from the Spring of 2025 as a duo including Daniel and Chuck until the addition of Andy making it a trio for the following dates of 2025 and beyond.
Songs are crafted as tales and stories of our beloved home region. Many musical influences have went into the sonic makeup of this band with traces of various veins of Metal music. Speed, Thrash, Doom, and Black Metal and can be felt among it all. Yet, there are moments of pure Rock / Hard Rock that steps out of the harsher tones, to great effect. "Blackened Metal" covers it well as while we draw from these various styles, we are not bound to them, blindly.
Through the 2025 period HOLLOWS performed at some fun venues including White Rabbit Records & Skate Shop in Corbin, KY for the first show since the addition of Chuck on drums as well as a thunderous set to open the Holler Of Doom 5 Festival.
During the Fall of 2025 the trio entered Fartknocker Studio in Kentucky to record tracks for an upcoming release.
The band carried the momentum from 2025 into 2026 with a list of live dates that began in early January and already extends well into the Summer. These include the first live dates for the project in Ohio and Tennessee.
Through the Winter and Spring of 2026 Joe Cole was added on bass and backing vocals. Joe will be playing select dates, as will Andy, when they are available. The duo version will also still be performing among it all.

Update: August 13, 2026
Through the month of July HOLLOWS played the DOOM TWO DEATH sets on the 11th, with one set in the afternoon at the Holler Of Doom 666 and the second set that evening at The Eve Of The Ancient Lamentation! These sets included the Mark III and Mark IV version of HOLLOWS with Andy Anderson playing the HOD666 set and Joe Cole playing the TEOTAL set.
Speaking of HOLLOWS versions, on the 30th of July Mark V was born when Kieth Johnson joined in on Bass for a killer set in Kingsport, TN at VFW Post 4933! Kieth will be joining again when his schedule allows. He is the Bass player for our Metal family in GRAVIS. We have a few dates with them coming up soon and you may have a chance to catch Kieth doing double duty.
HOLLOWS are also set to do three dates of the upcoming Terror Fest activates in South Carolina, West Virginia and Delaware with the mighty DETERIOROT!
For HOLLOWS we are calling it the Trilogy Of Terror Fest, paying homage the legendary Trilogy Of Terror T.V. movie from 1975. These three dates will also include GRAVIS and others that we are looking forward to playing with for the first time.

The first radio airplay from the NARRATOR release took place during Matt's Mortuary on WRFL 88.1 Lexington, KY!
D.J. Matt Dacey played "Whispers In The Woods" that featured an ambient intro titled "Hollowed Winter" created by Chuck Johnson from audio taken during an ice storm that came across Kentucky in 2025.
It was inspired by the HOLLOWS: Mark 1 sample titled "Holler Winter", which is the first track on the digital album titled The Suffering Continues from 2023.
This intro was not used on the NARRATOR release so this was the first time public presentation of the "Hollowed Winter" / "Whispers In The Woods" version. This version is a part of a three song set of radio versions that are being sent out. Also included are versions of "Frost Covered Eyes" and " Her Soul Flies" with Cello intros, written, played and recorded by the artist Form Of An Owl.
As with "Hollowed Winter", these two intros used on the radio versions are not available on the NARRATOR release.
More stations are being sent digital copies with a cover which they can print out and write info and options on., if they choose.
Update: July 2 2026
HOLLOWS closed out the 2026 Winter and Spring dates with a very fun set at Planet Of The Tapes in Louisville, KY. These dates found us visiting some familiar venues as well as some new ones. Among these dates we worked in Joe Cole on bass who will share that duty with Andy Anderson when he is involved with NEKROWINTER activates, or otherwise unavailable. The duo version of Daniel and Chuck also was in the mix for certain dates.
Looking into the Summer, Fall and beyond, HOLLOWS has hot one coming up! We are just a few days out from activity at the Holler Of Doom 666 and the The Eve Of The Ancient Lamentation show, both on the same date,July 11!
We play an early afternoon set at the new HOD site in Waynesburg, KY and then we drive South to Oak Ridge, TN for a night of Black Metal lunacy!
We revisit Williamsburg with a very important lineup of bands who have been very good to us. Visits to Kingsport, TN, Fairfield, Oh, Winchester, KY, Louisville, KY, Martinsburg, VA, and Newark DE carry us into December!
HOLLOWS currently has $20.00 Three-day Passes to the Gathering Of Midgard festival where we will be playing two sets! One on at 4 PM Friday August 28 and one at 3 PM on Saturday August 29!
